Workshop & Wine Wednesday Wednesday, April 17th
We are thrilled that our first Workshop & Wine Wednesday is all about flowers and fun, and is being hosted by our dear friend and Owenego member – Kait of Florals By Kait. Kait will provide us with materials and instructions to create an exquisite spring floral arrangement that would be perfect for your Easter centerpiece. The O will provide each participant with light nibbles and a complimentary glass of wine (and of course, the bar will be open should you care to purchase additional beverages).

Hop & Pop for Adults Friday, April 19th
Ready for some springtime fun? Gather in the cocktail lounge early to enjoy a few pre-hop pops. Around 9:15, we’ll head outside for the hop, an egg hunt for adults in the dark of night. Bring a headlamp or flashlight, and something in which to collect your eggs – bunny ears optional. Most eggs will be filled with candy, but 10 eggs will contain special prizes, including gift certificates to our neighborhood friends. In fact, we suggest you enjoy dinner in one of Indian Neck’s wonderful eateries, before heading to the O. Please call us at 203-488-3805 to let us know how many will be hopping, so we can help the bunny to prepare.

Easter Buffet Sunday, April 21st
Arrive at 1:00 to mingle with your guests, while enjoying an assorted cheese display, a vegetable crudite, and potato leek soup. From 1:30 – 2:30, wander through our delicious buffet, which will feature honey-glazed ham, a macaroni and cheese bar with toppings, assorted quiche, grilled asparagus, a garden salad, and dinner rolls, followed by coffee, tea, and dessert. Shhh… we’ve heard rumblings that the Easter Bunny may hop by for an egg hunt for children. This is a leisurely event with plenty of time to stroll along the water and linger on the lawn with mimosa in hand.
Time: 1:00 p.m.; $36/adult and $18/child under 12 – juices included for children. FYI…There is currently a waitlist for this event.
Summer’s In Session Friday, May 3rd,
Woohoo, we are buzzing with excitement about this event!!! According to the calendar, summer begins on June 21st. Here, at the O, though, Summer’s In Session Since 1847 – and it’s officially released tonight. Curious?! We’re keeping some elements a surprise, but if you like tasty treats, beer, Thimble Islands, and The Owenego, reserve your spot today!!! Select hors d’oeuvres will be passed, including beef and pulled pork sliders, along with music and merriment. This event includes food, music, and a ticket for a complimentary, 16 oz beer (of course, the bar will be open should you wish to purchase additional beverages).
Hint: While Workshop & Wine Wednesdays are about arts and crafts, this event involves another type of craft – one that has been made for us by another Branford business with whom we are so happy to have collaborated.

Kentucky Derby Cocktail Hour Saturday, May 4th
Gather around the firepits to watch the Race for the Roses beachside. In addition to the television inside the beach bar, we’ll set a second television outside on the patio – weather permitting. Bring your friends, wear Derby hats, and enjoy the festivities. All liquor must be purchased through the Owenego, but this is the one occasion on which you may bring your own snacks to the lower patio.

YAY!!! Painted by the Shore is in the house for this month’s Workshop & Wine Wednesday. The O will provide a complimentary glass of wine and some light nibbles, while instructors from Painted By The Shore guide us through the steps to paint hydrangeas onto two, stemless wine glasses. The glasses would make a great Mother’s Day gift – or, better yet, bring your Mom for a special evening out, and you can each have a set of glasses to bring home. Mother’s Day Luncheon Sunday, May 12th
Treat Mom to a delightful luncheon at the shore. Assorted cheeses and a vegetable crudite will be served upon arrival, followed by a delicious buffet featuring: Lemon Chicken, Prime Rib, Pasta Primavera, Sesame Green Beans, and a Garden Salad. For children under 12, you may pre-order a children’s meal of Chicken Tenders and French Fries. When placing your reservation, please specify how many chicken tender meals you would like. After dinner, relax with your guests, while enjoying some delicious dessert, coffee and tea. Moms will be treated to a complimentary glass of champagne upon arrival.

Steak Night with Eight to the Bar Friday, May 24th
Celebrate summer’s arrival with a sizzling steak and the fabulous music of Eight to the Bar. Enjoy mingling over cocktails, and then treat yourself to a succulent, 10 oz. NY Strip, hot off the grill. To accompany your steak, we will serve a salad bar and a baked potato bar with toppings. For children under 12, you may pre-order a child’s meal – the same bars, but substituting the steak with a burger. For dessert – brownies a la mode.

Pizza on the Patio Sunday, May 26th
Join us on the beachside patio for happy hour and pizza. Enjoy the firepits, cocktails, salt air, and pizza by the slice. We are very excited that the amazing Frank Andrews Pizza Company will be selling their wood-fired pizza by the slice – or by the pie. Owenego member and friend, Don Fillion will entertain. Formal reservations are not required, but please call the office to at 203-488-3805 to let us know if you’ll be joining us, so that the pizza company will know how much dough to make.

Summer is officially here, and we plan to celebrate with our first Food Truck & Firepit Fridays of the season. Bring your friends to enjoy a wonderfully relaxing evening at the beach. Gather around the firepits on the beachside patio and enjoy a casual evening of cocktails, lawn games, delicious delicacies from local food trucks, and music.

Spend your entire day relaxing at the beach and leave the cooking to us. Enjoy happy hour at the beach bar, and then head inside for an old-fashioned, Sunday Supper. There will be hotdogs aplenty in the holiday week ahead, so, tonight, treat yourself to some home-style cooking: Baked Chicken, Barbequed Ribs, Macaroni and Cheese, Vegetable, and a Garden Salad. For dessert… build your own Strawberry Shortcake.

Camp Rising Sun Wednesday, July 17th
The Hungry Dog is closed tonight, as we host one of our favorite events of the year – Camp Rising Sun’s Annual Night Out. This community gathering is a huge fundraising effort to benefit Camp Rising Sun, an incredible camp where kids with cancer have fun. Join us for a delicious barbeque, music, and silent auction, and know that, in addition to having a terrific evening, you’ll be helping to send children to camp. We will keep you posted as to when tickets become available.
Hometown Harmonies – Branford’s 375th Celebration Friday, July 19th
The Owenego is proud to be the host sight for Branford’s official birthday celebration, Hometown Harmonies, presented by The Branford Community Foundation. Hometown Harmonies is a musical celebration of our hometown – food trucks, a fabulous show featuring local talent, and loads of fun. Save the date. Updates to follow.
Island Night Saturday, July 20th
Treat yourself to a frozen drink and transport yourself to island time. During cocktail hour, we will serve select hors d’oeuvres including clam chowder, steamers, and baked stuffed clams. For dinner, enjoy a delicious clambake buffet, featuring your choice of lobster or NY Strip, baked chicken sections, boiled red potatoes, corn-on-the-cob, and garden salad. While Peter Pan says, “I won’t grow up!,” those of us in Wine Class 101 vow that “We won’t graduate from the 101 level.” We learn a lot, but enjoy much more fun than formality. Each week, we’ll tour our tasting table around the O, as we sample wines from around the world.

There will be plenty of beautiful beach days ahead, but today we’ll salute the official end of beach season at the O. Enjoy cocktails on the patio, and then treat yourself to a delicious barbeque – clam chowder, hotdogs, hamburgers, veggie burgers, sausage and peppers, corn-on-the-cob, pasta salad, a garden salad, watermelon and cookies.

Harvest Buffet Friday, October 4th
Celebrate the season at our Harvest Buffet. During cocktail hour, enjoy delicious hors d’oeuvres and carrot-ginger soup. For dinner, meander through our harvest-themed buffet featuring filet mignon, cider-glazed pork, whipped potatoes, oven-roasted fall vegetables, and a garden salad with dried cranberries, blue cheese and candied walnuts. For dessert, warm apple crisp.
