Summer at the “O” ~ 2013

Saturday, May 4th Kentucky Derby Happy Hour

While we have a private event in the main dining room, Frank will host a Kentucky Derby Happy Hour in The Thirsty Gull, where you can watch the Race for the Roses in an intimate setting on our large television.  Gather with friends and cheer for your favorite contender, while horsing around with a festive bartender.  Frank will have all the fixings for Mint Juleps, and from 4:30 – 6:30, the “O” will provide some tasty, happy hour treats.  While the food is complimentary, we ask that you phone us if you plan to swing by, in order to help us with our food preparations.  Thanks!

Sunday, May 12th Mother’s Day Luncheon

Treat Mom and all of the special women in your life to a lovely luncheon at the shore.  Let Mom relax, as we serve a delicious buffet featuring Zinfandel Chicken, Cedar-Planked Salmon, Prime Rib, spinach salad, couscous salad, bowtie pasta with roasted red peppers, and grilled asparagus.  For youngsters under 12, you may pre-order a children’s meal of chicken tenders and french fries.  When placing your reservation, please notify the office as to how many chicken tender meals you would like.)  Lemon cake will be served for dessert, along with coffee and tea.

Time: 1 p.m.; Price:  $32./adult;  $14./child under 12

 

Saturday, May 18th Opening Dinner Dance

Help us celebrate the season’s arrival at our opening dinner dance.  Enjoy scrumptious hors d’oeuvres during cocktail hour, followed by a delightful, sit-down dinner, featuring your choice of Grilled Swordfish or Prime Rib of Beef.  Dance away the winter blues and welcome Summer to the tunes of the band, Mid-Life Crisis!  Mind you, you needn’t be experiencing a mid-life crisis to enjoy the band or evening.

Time:  Cocktails:  6:30 – 7:30;  Dinner:  7:45;  Dancing:  7 – 11;  Price: $42./person

Sunday, May 26th Grill and Chill

Do you ever feel like you spend an inordinate amount of time rushing from one activity to another?  Take a moment this afternoon to stop and unwind.  Pull up a chair on the side deck, or set a blanket on the lawn.  Here, enjoy sipping on some beverages, gazing at the water, chatting with friends, and enjoying the music that will play from under the gazebo.  And… if you become hungry, we will be grilling hotdogs and hamburgers.  We also plan to whip up a huge pot of our creamy clam chowder.  A casual gathering, at which food items may be purchased a la carte.

Music:  4 – 7:  Grill:  5 – 6:30

 

Friday, May 31st Steak Night with “Eight to the Bar”

Put on your dancing shoes and kick up your heels, as we swing into Summer with “Eight to the Bar.”  Enjoy mingling over cocktails, then treat yourself to a succulent, 10 oz. NY Strip hot off the grill.  To accompany your steak, we will serve a salad bar and a baked potato bar.  For children under 12, you may pre-order a child’s meal – the same bars, but substituting the steak with a burger.  For dessert – a selection of decadent dessert bars.  After this scrumptious meal, dance the night (and calories) away to the incredible tunes of “Eight to the Bar.”

Grilling:  6:30 – 7:30;  Dancing;  8 – 11.  Price:  $24./adult; $14./child under 12.            Cover Charge:  $5. at the door for those joining us for dancing only.

Sunday, June 16th Father’s Day Brunch

Bring Dad to the “O” for a day of rest and relaxation.  Enjoy a fabulous, buffet brunch, then head to the beach to relax at the water’s edge.  Phone us today with your reservation, as this annual favorite tends to sell out early.

Thursday, July 4th Independence Day Cookout

Bring your friends and family to enjoy this festive celebration.  Enjoy some old-fashioned, family-style fun and games with a disc jockey, followed by a patriotic cookout.  In addition to grilling hotdogs and hamburgers, we will serve chowder, sausage and peppers, corn-on-the-cob, pasta salad, tossed salad.  Save room for cookies and watermelon for dessert!

 Friday, July 19th Island Night

The temperatures will be hot, and so will this party. Grab yourself a frozen drink and set sail to island time.  Enjoy select hors d’oeuvres featuring clam chowder, steamers, and baked stuffed clams, followed by your choice of lobster or NY Strip.  Island attire and mindset suggested.

Saturday, August 17th Family Movie Night & Lasagna Dinner

Enjoy Uncle Anthony’s homemade lasagna, then settle your blankets on the lawn to enjoy a family-friendly movie that will appeal to all ages.  Movie selection to be announced.

Sunday, September 1st Labor Day Cookout

The waterfront and lawn will buzz with excitement throughout the day.  Highlights will include The Harold Quinn Fishing Tournament for children under the age of 12, a parade for children of all ages, and family entertainment during the picnic.

Saturday, October 5th Closing Party

Once again, we’ll close the season with our Harvest Buffet.  During cocktail hour, enjoy delicious hors d’oeuvres and butternut squash soup.  For dinner, meander through our harvest-themed buffet featuring stuffed pork loin, freshly-roasted turkey, whipped potatoes, oven-roasted fall vegetables, and a garden salad with dried cranberries, blue cheese and candied walnuts.  For dessert, home-baked apple pie a la mode.  Yum!!!
